Survey on Equipment Purchases by Public Entities as Part of SP&R Part II-funded Research Projects
This survey was conducted by Mississippi DOT to gather information about other states' policies for research contracts that involve equipment purchases for public entities such as universities over $5000 to comply with the 2 CFR 200.312-316.
The following questions were asked as part of this survey:
1. Do you allow >$5000-value equipment to reside with the university/agency after the contract is done?
(We are considering allowing this with the item being on MDOT’s inventory to be checked as per the regs but are trying to interpret how this would work.)
2. If so, how does your DOT handle maintenance, upkeep, and/or calibration of the equipment until its useful life is at an end? Will DOT or the university be responsible for this?
3. If you have policy drafted, would you be willing to share it?
