Over six years ago, Caltrans created a unit in our research division to assist with implementation. At the time, we did not have a clear direction for how we wanted this unit to operate. What the group eventually did was to create guidance on how the research project manager should work with the team to foster better implementation. The group has created assistance documents. See attached.
It is our understanding that many States have created “Implementation Officers” that are tasked to actually help with implementation rather than provide guidance. We would like to learn more about these positions and duties. So, our questions are:
• Do you have an implementation officer position at your DOT that helps with implementation?
• If yes, please provide name and contact information.
• Does the person have a written duty statement or guidance document on tasks that they perform? If yes, please attach it to your reply.
